Training

aiic members have generally completed studies at an internationally recognised training establishment.
Students acquire a sound knowledge of

  • interpretation techniques
  • research strategies
  • specialised vocabulary together with
  • a sound academic grounding in the profession, whilst also acquiring a better understanding of their foreign language(s) and the associated foreign cultures.

A range of technical facilities are available to students in training establishments:

  • Conference rooms with modern interpretation equipment
  • Video booths to record interpretation exercises
  • Archives with extensive sound recordings

Numerous universities organise their courses in the light of aiic guidelines. The association's "Training Committee" helps to ensure respect around the world for our standards in terms of technical skills and respect for professional ethics.
After the exams at the end of the course, graduates begin the long process of gaining professional experience and acquiring knowledge in various specialised fields. Experienced aiic teams support young colleagues in this process by offering glossaries and specialised background material in the run-up to conferences and are always ready to give a helping hand or offer advice
