Conference
organisation
Good
conference interpretation calls for excellent teamwork
... between everyone involved: the organisers, speakers, interpreters and
sound engineers.
The interpreter's preparation is essential for an international
conference and this should be taken into account at the planning
stage.
In preparing for a conference it is useful to have:
- general
background material
- specific
specialist information
- information
about the organisations involved
- and possibly
copies of the proceedings or minutes of previous conferences.
It can also
be very helpful when preparing a conference to hold a briefing to
explain to the interpreters what you expect and give them a
chance to ask you questions.
Important: the interpreters should receive all the information
well before the conference!
The checklist
for conference organisers lists the most important points to bear
in mind once you have decided to work with a team of professional conference
interpreters.
Please consult our tips for hotels for points to remember if you run a hotel or conference
centre.
