Why aiic?

aiic-conference interpreters are in a highly responsible position as they carry out their professional duties. Just one misplaced term or one false emphasis at an international meeting can lead to misunderstandings, or, in extreme cases, even to diplomatic incidents.
Governments, business people and other professionals therefore quite rightly demand the highest degree of precision and reliability from interpreters.

aiic was set up in 1953 to guarantee just that.
The association now has over 2,400 members in 77 countries and is recognised by the European Union, NATO, Interpol, the World Bank, the United Nations and many other international organisations.
